Dartmouth had four different scorers to go along with its shutout
HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth women's soccer had four different scorers on its way to a commanding, 5-0, win over Southern Illinois Tuesday night at Burnham Field. Allie Winstanley netted two goals, while Charlotte Esty, Mollie McGorisk and Ellie Geier found the net as well.
The Big Green (9-5-0) outshot the Salukis (4-10-2) 17-5 with an 11-2 advantage on goal and had four corner kicks compared to zero for the visiting team. 24 players saw action in the game and Dartmouth finishes the season 9-1-0 against non-conference opponents.
Mariel Gordon and Charlotte Cyr secured their second combined shutout of the season in goal. Cyr finished with two saves.
"Tonight was a great team effort," said head coach Ron Rainey. "It was nice to see everyone get involved and contribute to the shutout and score a lot of goals."
Dartmouth's first goal came in the 26th minute. Zoe Boocock floated the ball to Winstanley who beat her defender and fired a straight-on shot from just inside the '18 to find the back of the net.
In the 36th minute, Tracey Mills split the defense with her pass to find Esty racing in front of the goal and her shot knocked off the bottom-left post and in to make it 2-0.
The Big Green scored their next two goals in succession when Winstanley scored her Ivy League leading ninth goal in the 62nd minute off an assist from Lorna MacFarlane. McGorisk was the beneficiary of a double assist from Winstanley and Geier in the 63rd minute.
The final goal of the match came in the 82nd minute. Juliet Moncho found Geier for her first career goal.
Dartmouth resumes Ivy League play on Saturday when they host Columbia at 4 p.m.
