HANOVER, N.H. – Head women's hockey coach
Laura Schuler has announced the hiring of
Matt Cunningham as an assistant coach and
Olivia Fox as the director of hockey operations.
Cunningham comes to Hanover from the West Coast, where he most recently worked with two California-based USA Hockey Model Club Associations (Anaheim Jr. Ducks and Jr. Reign). In addition to assisting with 14U, 15U and 16U AAA boys' teams and working as a program director, he helped guide team-building, off-ice training and long-term athlete development guidelines.
Cunningham worked at USA Hockey's National Office in Colorado Springs from 2009 to 2017. While there, he helped drive coach education initiatives and player development best practices. While based in California in recent years, he continued to support USA Hockey as a regional scout for the National Team Development Program. He also continued to support girls' hockey as a lead scout at various district player development camps and as an on-ice director and skills coach at USA Hockey's National Player Development Camps held in St. Cloud, Minnesota, each summer.
Cunningham graduated from Minnesota State, Mankato, with a degree in mass communications in 2000. He went on to get his Master of Arts in sport management from MSU in 2009.
"We are super excited to have Matt join our staff," Schuler said. "He brings a lot of experience and knowledge to the forefront, having played for Minnesota State. He is also going to play a central role in helping us identify top quality prospective student-athletes, as he has scouted and instructed on both men's and women's high-performance sides of USA Hockey."
Last season, Fox served as director of operations at RIT, where she oversaw all aspects of the Tigers' Division I program including game day management, travel and equipment operations.
Fox graduated from Adrian College and was a four-year letter winner. As a senior, she tallied a +23 rating with an impressive 24 points in 29 games played and was named Forward of the Year. After wrapping up her playing career, she stayed with the team as their operations coordinator. In that role, she managed the team's social media, secured Adrian's equipment needs and planned charity events.
"Olivia will be another solid addition to our staff," Schuler said. "Not only does she have valuable experience working as director of operations at the DI level, but more importantly, she understands the small details that help contribute to building successful teams, having been part of two NCAA Championship programs as a player."
A native of Massillon, Ohio, Fox graduated with a bachelor's degree in business marketing.
