HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth sailing hosted the Hewitt Trophy and traveled to compete in the coed showcase at St. Mary's College of Maryland. The Big Green finished fifth in each event.
The team of skippers James Paul, Payton Thompson Michael Tellini and crews Emma Barska, Eliza Crocker and Drew Clutterbuck raced in the Hewitt Trophy on Mascoma Lake and placed fifth out of 17 teams. The Division A boat of Paul, Thompson, Barska and Crocker finished in the top five three times with one win for 101 points. The B boat of Tellini and Clutterbuck had seven top-five finishes with one win for 74 points.
Skippers Boyd Bragg and Max Clapp and crews Paige Clarke, Eloise Burn and Christopher Long were in Maryland for the coed showcase and finished fifth out of 18 teams. Bragg and Clarke came in second among A boats with 114 points, the duo had nine top-five finishes with one win. The B boat of Clapp, Burn and Long placed in the top five in five races with one victory for 148 points.
Dartmouth is scheduled to race in three events next weekend (Oct. 12-13): They host the Captain Hurst Bowl, go to Navy for the Women's Showcase Finals and compete in the New England Match Race Championship.
