HANOVER, N.H. – Head men's lacrosse coach
Brendan Callahan has announced captains for the upcoming 2020 season.
Senior
Ben Martin will serve as captain, while classmates
Jack Richardson and
Albie Austin will be assistant captains.
Martin has played in every game since his first season in 2017. Last year as a junior, he was first on the team in goals (27), assists (15) and points (42) and was the first Dartmouth player to get more than 40 points since 2012. He had at least one point in all but one game and had a season-high six points against BU (2/16) and Hartford (4/9).
Richardson ended 2019 with a career-high three points (2G, 1A) in 12 games played. He was fifth on the team in ground balls (24) and second in caused turnovers (14). Austin appeared in 11 games as a junior and grabbed seven ground balls and had two caused turnovers, both of which were personal bests.
In addition to the three captains, the Big Green will have squad leaders, who are given extra tasks and duties to help lead the team. Serving in these positions in 2020 are head squad leader
Harlan Smart,
James Sullivan,
George Prince and
Matt Paul.
They are responsible for day-to-day operations of team functions, organizing their group, communicating with the coaches and the team, and leading their squad of about 10 of their team members.
