NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Dartmouth men's squash team picked up a 5-4 victory over Princeton Sunday morning on the final day of the Potter Cup. The Big Green finish the season with a 9-8 record, while Princeton finishes the year at 7-9.
When these two teams played each other earlier in the season, the Tigers came away with an 8-1 victory.
Tucker Martino and
James Bell both swept their opponents. Martino won, 11-6, 11-7 and 11-7, while Bell only allowed 13 points, winning, 11-3, 11-4 and 11-6.
Brandon De Otaduy and
Reg Anderson won their matches in four games. De Otaduy fell 11-9 in the first game, but won the final three, 11-9, 11-9 and 11-7. Anderson also lost the first game and won the next three, 11-8, 11-6 and took a thrilling fourth game, 18-16.
Matt Giegerich won an exciting five-game match. After taking the first two games, 11-4 and 11-3, Giegerich lost the next two, 11-5 and 11-7 but fought in the fifth and won, 11-7.
Team play is over for the Big Green and they will now turn their attention to the individual championships which begin on March 1st in Providence, R.I.
