Moon Cheong both carded a 3-over 75 in the second and final round of the FAU Winter Warmup as Dartmouth finished the tournament in sixth out of the seven competing teams with a 622 (+46). Tennessee, ranked 37th in the nation, cruised to the victory by 41 strokes over host Florida Atlantic with a 17-under 559.
While Cheong could not defend her title at this event, she did put together two solid rounds to tie for seventh at 4-over par (148). Today she dropped a birdie on the par-3 third hole before recording a couple of bogeys and a double the rest of the way for a 75 (+3) on the day.
Lees recovered from a rough opening round to match Cheong with her own 75, sinking one birdie on the par-5 12th hole. She added 14 pars to her ledger and three bogeys to end the tournament in a tie for 30th at 16-over par (160) with two of her teammates, senior
Catharine Roddy and junior
Maddie Nelson.
Roddy matched her first-round score with an 8-over 80 today, and freshman
Kristen Chen, who was one stroke behind the Big Green trio in a tie for 34th, also carded an 80 on this day to finish Dartmouth's 22-over 310 in the final round.
Tennessee's Mariah Smith fended off two of her teammates by one stroke to earn medalist honors with a 67-70—137 (-7). Tai Barber of host FAU was the only other golfer to beat par with a 3-under 141 in fourth.
Dartmouth will have a month off from tournaments before teeing it up again during spring break at the Morehead State Spring Citrus Challenge on March 17-19 at Red Tail Golf Club in Sorrento, Florida.
