PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Dartmouth sailing team took second place in the Women's Team Race National Invitational hosted by Brown. The Big Green also placed 13th in the Thompson Trophy at Connecticut College.
The all women uppperclass squad of seniors Emma White, Rebecca McElvain, Lisa Genthner, Alyssa Berger and Mary Amis along with junior Audrey Giblin took the trip south to Providence, R.I. and had a strong showing, placing second out of 13 teams in the Women's Team Race National Invitational. The Big Green won 14 out of 19 races and finished only behind Brown despite beating the Bears in round two. In round one, Dartmouth defeated Bowdoin, Cornell, South Florida, Harvard, MIT, Northeastern, Tufts and Penn. In the second round, Dartmouth earned wins over MIT, Boston University, Brown, Cornell, Bowdoin and Rhode Island.
Dartmouth finished 13th out of 17 boats with 394 points in the Thompson Trophy in New London, Conn. The team of junior Noah Simmons, sophomores Michael Tellini, Kasey Rhee Max Clapp and Christopher Cheng and freshmen Annika Rogers and Ryan Goldstein competed for the Big Green.
The Big Green are back on the water next weekend for four scheduled races: the New England Women's Championship at MIT, the George Morris Trophy at Boston University, the Admirals Cup Kings Point and the Boston Dinghy Cup at Harvard.
