CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Dartmouth sailing team competed in three races over the weekend highlighted by the NEISA Women's Championship hosted by MIT. The Big Green also took part in the Boston Dinghy Club Challenge Cup at Harvard and the Admiral's Cup at Kings Point.
The team of seniors Emma White and Mary Amis, juniors Paige Clarke and Audrey Giblin, junior Kathryn Hall and freshmen Aisling Sullivan and Carlota Hopkins-Guerra finished in third place at the NEISA Women's Championship with 174 points which was good enough to qualify for nationals. Dartmouth's Division A boat of Giblin, Amis and Hopkins-Guerra took five top-five finishes, including a first place mark in the 14th race. The Divison B team of White, Clarke and Sullivan placed in the top five nine times with two wins.
Seniors Lisa Genthner, Christopher Williford and Rebecca McElvain, sophomore Michael Tellini and freshmen Ryan Goldstein and Cole Harris secured a second place finish with 201 points at the Admiral's Cup in Kings Point. The Division A boat of Williford, McElvain and Goldstein placed in the top five nine times in 16 races with four wins. The Division B boat of Harris, Tellini and Genthner took eight top-five marks with three victories.
Senior Alyssa Berger, juniors Jack McGraw and Noah Simmons, sophomores Eloise Burn, Christopher Cheng, Josh Cherner, Max Clapp and Kasey Rhee and freshman Maddie Sharp finished eighth with 210 points at the Boston Dinghy Cup. The Division A boat of McGraw, Cherner and Berger took three top-five finishes with one victory. The Divison B boat of Clapp, Sharp and Cheng came in the top 10 three times. The Division C boat of Simmons and Burn snagged a victory in three top-five finishes.
Dartmouth heads to Brunswick, Maine next for the New England Dinghy Championship hosted by Bowdoin College.
