Kulynych-Irvin Places Third in Singlehanded Championship; Sailing Takes Third and Fourth at Barnett Trophy in Second Fall Weekend

HANOVER, N.H. – Sailing entered their second fall weekend over the past couple of days, competing in the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association's Singlehanded Championship, the Hatch Brown Trophy, the Regis Trophy, and the Nicholas Barnett Trophy. The Singlehanded Championship was hosted by Boston College, the Hatch Brown Trophy by MIT, the Regis Trophy by Harvard, and the Barnett Trophy by Bowdoin.

Alders Kulynych-Irvin represented the Big Green in the women's field at the Singlehanded Championship. Sailing across twelve races, Kulynych-Irvin finished third overall out of 11 sailors, posting 63 points. The strong showing has Kulynych-Irvin well positioned to qualify for the Singlehanded National Championship, set for Nov. 7 and 8 at Fordham University.

A Division — 5th (52 points)
Skipper Olivia Drulard teamed up with crew Kathryn McGranahan '29, delivering Dartmouth's best divisional in the regatta placing fifth.

B Division — 8th (65 points)
Skipper Turner Ryon sailed with crew Sage Sakowicz '30, putting up a mid-pack showing in a tightly bunched division.

C Division — 9th (69 points)
Skipper Cooper Keeves and crew Lucia Duffy rounded out the lineup, just off the pace in the day's most competitive division. Only 4 points separated 8th from 12th.

Dartmouth entered two boats at the Barnett Trophy. Big Green 1 finished third, sitting just 15 points behind the first-place finisher, Bowdoin. Big Green 2 wasn't far behind, taking fourth overall.

The Big Green had a middle-of-the-pack day at the Regis Trophy. Dartmouth finished 10th overall with 167 points, posting 102 points in A Division and 65 in B Division. The B Division result was the stronger of the two, keeping Dartmouth within range of the group ahead — just five points back of ninth-place Boston College (162).

The third fall weekend will commence next weekend, with the Big Green sending teams to the Eagles Invite hosted by Boston College, the Hoyt Trophy hosted by Brown, and Match Race New England at Corinthian Yacht Club. Additionally, Dartmouth will host its first event of the fall season, the Ms. Hurst Regatta.
