THIS WEEKEND
Dartmouth begins the first of nine straight road games this weekend when the Big Green head to Cornell to take on the Big Red. Dartmouth will try to make up some ground in the Ivy League standings. Â
LAST WEEKEND AGAINST HARVARD
- Dartmouth was swept by Harvard last weekend at the Dartmouth Softball Park.
- The Big Green also celebrated the 25th anniversary of Dartmouth varsity softball.
- Dartmouth fell, 2-1, in a pitcher's duel in game one. Shelby Wilkison and Madie Augusto combined for two runs on five hits in the circle with two strikeouts. Harvard's Katie Duncan threw a complete game with one earned on four hits and struck out four. Harvard scored in the second and third innings. Dartmouth scored in the seventh but stranded the tying and winning runs on base.  Â
- Game two took 11 innings to decide a winner and Harvard came out on top, 9-7. Micah Schroder hit two home runs and Billie McFadyen hit a two-run shot to tie the game in the fourth. Taylor Ward also drove in two runs.
- The Crimson took another close game in the final game of the series, this time winning 4-3. Harvard led 4-0 until the seventh when the Big Green scored all their runs on a two RBI triple by Ward and an RBI groundout from Schroder but it would not be enough.
SCOUTING CORNELL
- Cornell is the only team behind Dartmouth in the Ivy League standings with a 2-10 conference record. The Big Red are 6-28 overall and have had a similar season to the Big Green.
- The Big Red are second in the Ivy League with 17 home runs and 45 doubles.
- Cornell is hitting .254 as a team which ranks seventh in the conference and have struck out a league leading 168 times.
- Cornell is led at the plate by Bridgette Rooney who is hitting .326 with a team high 21 RBI.
- Allison Kerce has shown the most pop this season with a team leading five home runs and is second with a .321 batting average and 20 RBI.
- Ashley Delaney (3-8, 7.66 ERA) and junior Katie Lew (3-14, 9.33 ERA) both have three victories in the circle, with Lew striking out 50 in 78.0 innings of work.
- Lisa Nelson has missed much of the last month due to injury, but returned in Cornell's doubleheader split with Colgate and threw 2.2 perfect innings with five strikeouts.
ALL-TIME VS. THE BIG RED
- Cornell leads the all-time series 37-19.
- The Big Red took the first 37 out of 44 games from 1995-2013.
- But since the second game of a doubleheader on April 5, 2013, Dartmouth has won 11Â consecutive games over Cornell.
- The Big Green are 12-2 against the Big Red since the opening of the Dartmouth Softball Park in 2012.
LEADING THE LEAGUE
- Micah Schroder has been the best hitter in the Ivy League through the first 29 games of the season.
- She leads the Ivy League and is 23rd in the nation with a .436 batting average, she is second in the league with six home runs, fifth with seven doubles and sixth with 21 RBI. Schroder has also struck out just five times in 78 at bats.
- Schroder started the season batting just .138 through the first 11 games of the season. Beginning on March 17 at Loyola Marymount her average has raised .298 points
- She has 10 multi-hit games and is currently on a seven-game hitting streak.
