BRANCHBURG, N.J. — The Dartmouth women's golf team won its final match of the March Madness Match Play by sweeping Wagner, 6-0, in the seventh-place showdown for the most lopsided victory during the two-day, three-round event at Fox Hollow. Top-seeded Delaware defeated the second seed, Princeton, in the championship match, 4.5-1.5, as every pairing went according to the original seeding.
The Big Green got steady play up and down the lineup with key birdies littered throughout the round. Junior
Maddie Nelson enjoyed the widest margin of victory, 6 and 5, as she finished the event winning two of her three matches while halving the other.
Senior
Catharine Roddy needed just one more hole to finish off her pairing, winning 5 and 4, while sophomore
Moon Cheong wrapped up her match at 3 and 2.
The most exciting match of the day belonged to junior
Kristen Soh, who birdied 18 to defeat her opponent, 1 up. And freshman
Kaitlyn Lees secured 1 up by getting up and down on 17 and making par on 18.
Junior
Bethany Burns also played a match as an indiviual and defeated her opponent from Princeton, 4 and 3.
Next up for Dartmouth is the Ivy League Championship, which will take place at The Ridge at Back Brook in Ringoes, New Jersey, on April 19-21.
