HANOVER, N.H. – Another 2019 All-America honor was bestowed upon senior
Kathryn Giroux of the Dartmouth women's lacrosse team.
Â
The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) announced Wednesday afternoon that Giroux had been named to the All-America Third Team as a midfielder and draw control specialist.
Â
This is the second such honor this year for the team captain who graduated just this past Sunday. Giroux was honored with a spot on the
Inside Lacrosse Women's All-America Third Team on May 28.
Â
The Summit, New Jersey, native earned All-America honors thanks to an outstanding senior season in Hanover. She finished her collegiate career as the top draw specialist ever to come through not only Dartmouth, but the entire Ivy League.
Â
Her 160 draws this spring are a new single-season benchmark for an Ivy player, while her career total of 418 is also the most by any player in conference history. A unanimous All-Ivy League First Team selection this spring, she is considered one of the top midfielders in one of the top lacrosse conferences.
Â
Giroux is the only player in Ivy history with three seasons of 100 or more draw controls. The previous Dartmouth career mark for draw controls before Giroux arrived was 155, a figure she would've passed with just this season's record-breaking performance.
Â
The team captain's final year in Hanover was stellar on the field and she has enjoyed several accolades for it. In addition to her All-Ivy honors, Giroux was named to the IWLCA All-Northeast Region First Team in addition to her now two All-America honors.
Giroux becomes the first Dartmouth player since Jaclyn Leto '16 (Third) in 2016 to earn a spot on the IWLCA All-America Team.
