DartmouthSports.com will be recognizing the senior student-athletes who had their fall seasons postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Today's Senior…Lilly Durbin, a center on the women's rugby team from Murrieta, California.
DartmouthSports.com: What have workouts been like so far?
Lilly Durbin: Workouts have been amazing thanks to Coach James! He's been amazing with sending us video demonstrations and motivation, which has really kept me consistent with workouts. It also helped to FaceTime a friend during a workout for a little extra competition/motivation.
DS: What is your most memorable on-field team moment?
LD: It would have to be when we beat No. 1 ranked Quinnipiac my freshman year for my first game with Dartmouth in a gruesome battle.
DS: What is your most memorable non-sports memory?
LD: My favorite non-sports memory was when I had to be admitted to DHMC and my teammates, coaches and athletic trainers all came to visit me all 10 days I was in the hospital. Their support meant the world to me.
DS: Do you have any hidden talents?
LD: I can juggle.
DS: If you could swap places with one teammate, who would it be and why?
LD: I would swap with
Sophie Ragg because she is a rockstar and is always doing something adventurous! I admire her grit and the light she brings to every situation she's part of.
DS: What are your plans after Dartmouth (as much as you can plan for anything during this pandemic)?
LD: My plans after Dartmouth are to train with the US Women's 7s Olympic Team in California and attend PA school.
DS: What was the best gift you ever received?
LD: The best gift I ever received was my health!
DS: Other than your parents who has had the most influence on your life and why?
LD: The former women's Olympic Rugby coach Ric Suggist (may he rest in peace) has left an everlasting mark on my life. He taught me to embrace the ugly moments in life and run at them full speed, never looking back. I think of him every day.
