HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth men's lacrosse senior captain
Ben Martin was selected by the Connecticut Hammerheads with the 20th overall pick in the 2020 Major League Lacrosse (MLL) Draft on Monday evening.
Martin is the 10th Big Green player in program history to appear in the draft, the last being Jack Korzelius '18 two years ago. Before that was Patrick Resch '14, while the other seven picks were all between 2004 and 2007.
"I am excited for Ben to be able to continue his career at the next level," head coach
Brendan Callahan said. "He's been one of our hardest workers, toughest players, and a great leader. Our program has grown tremendously in the last few years and Ben has been a huge part of that with the standard he sets for our team each and every day at practice. We are proud of him and wish him much success in the MLL."
During his shortened senior season, Martin started all four games, and was tied for second on the team in goals (8) and fourth in points (11). He played a big part in Dartmouth's 3-1 start in 2020 and had a season-high four points (3-1-4) in the win over Bryant (Feb. 22).
Throughout his impressive career, the Arlington, Virginia, native started all but one of his 43 games. He scored 82 goals and tacked on 28 assists for a total of 110 points. As a junior in 2019, he became the first Big Green player to have over 40 points since 2012 and he ended every one of his four years either first or second in goals.
