Alex Budnik made five saves for Dartmouth in a tight, back and forth game.
The first half saw no goals as both sides battled back and forth. Dartmouth held the advantage in shots, 4-3, after 45 minutes of play and the Big Green also had the advantage in corners with two to the Quakers' none. The score was 0-0 headed into the second half of play.
The two sides remained knotted at zero for most of the second half. The action began to pick up with just under ten minutes remaining in the game. Dartmouth finally broke through in the 82nd minute. Bailon found the back of the net and was assisted by junior midfielder
Trevor Gee to make the score 1-0. Four minutes later Penn answered, and the game was tied 1-1 with five minutes remaining in the game. Neither side could pull away in the final five minutes and the game went into overtime.
Neither team broke through in the first overtime period. The Big Green held a 3-1 advantage in shots and the game was still tied 1-1 headed into the second and final half of overtime. In the 104th minute Penn struck and won the game 2-1. It was the third overtime game of the season for Dartmouth
The Big Green return to action, Tuesday night for a 7 p.m. tilt against Vermont at home. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
