Jeff Losurdo,
Joey Musa and
Sam Hesler picked up the assists.
Justin Ferguson was in net for almost the whole game (minus being pulled for two minutes at the end) and had 16 saves while being saddled with the loss.
The Big Green led in shots on goal, 27-19.
Dartmouth (2-6-0) vs. Vermont (2-9-1)
The Catamounts jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the first, scoring with 18 seconds left on the power play at 4:50 before adding insurance less than two minutes later. At 11:11, Gallant backhanded the puck into the net before Gabe Carriere could get there. The Big Green had a chance to even the score with a power play in the final few minutes but couldn't get another past the Vermont goalkeeper.
The visitors made it 3-1 just 23 seconds into the second period, firing past a diving Ferguson. At the midway point, a five-minute major and a game misconduct for Vermont gave Dartmouth a chance, but Carriere turned away six of the seven shots to keep the Big Green at bay. There was another chance late, but it was a no go.
Right from the first faceoff of the third, the Big Green peppered the Vermont goalie with shots, five of which were saved. At 4:50, the Catamounts had their eyes on their fourth of the night, but Ferguson's huge sliding saved stopped them in their tracks. At 15:55, Gallant was back for his second of the game, shooting from right between the dots to bring the Green within one (3-2). Dartmouth was relentless in the final three minutes, but Carriere stood his ground until the final whistle.
The Big Green will be on the road for three straight games and won't return home until they host the annual Ledyard Classic at the very end of December. Next up is Yale on Friday, Dec. 3.
