THIS WEEKEND
The Dartmouth men's ice hockey team returns to ECAC Hockey action with a pair of games this weekend. The Big Green take on Yale on Friday evening before squaring off with Brown on Saturday evening.
LOOKING BACK AT LAST WEEKEND
- Dartmouth returned to action after a two-week hiatus with two games over Thanksgiving weekend.
- The Big Green fell to #14 Providence, 7-4, on Friday evening.
- 11 players each had a point for Dartmouth, with senior Erik Urbank, junior Mark Gallant, sophomore Nick Unruh, and freshman Steven Townley scoring the goals. They were the first career goals for Urbank, Unruh, and Townley.
- Senior Justin Ferguson made a career-high 35 saves.
- Dartmouth returned to Thompson Arena for the first time in several weeks when they hosted twin-state rival Vermont. The Catamounts won, 3-2.
- Gallant scored both goals for the Big Green, making it six goals in six games for him this season.
THE BIG GREEN STATS
- Gallant leads the team in scoring with six goals after scoring three more this past weekend. Senior Jeff Losurdo and sophomore Joey Musa each have two goals.
- Junior Tanner Palocsik and freshman Sean Chisholm lead the team in assists with five each. Losurdo has four assists, while senior Harrison Markell, freshman Braiden Dorfman, and Musa each have three.
- Gallant has seven points this season, while Losurdo, Palocsik, and Chisholm each have six.
- Ferguson has played in six games between the pipes this season, making 137 saves for a save percentage of .846.
RECENT HISTORY AGAINST THE BULLDOGS
- The teams split the series during the 2019-20 season.
- The Big Green took game one, 4-3, down at Ingalls Rink in New Haven. The Bulldogs won the return game, 4-3, at Thompson Arena.
RECENT HISTORY AGAINST THE BEARS
- The Big Green swept the series against the Bears during the 2019-20 season.
- Dartmouth defeated Brown, 4-1, in the first matchup, and successfully defended home ice in the return fixture, taking the win by a score of 5-2.
- Palocsik scored the third Dartmouth goal of the game late into the second period.
SCOUTING YALE
- Yale enters Friday's game with a 1-6 overall record while 0-5 in ECAC Hockey play.
- The Bulldogs are coming off their first win of the season, a 4-2 victory over Vermont.
- Niklas Allain, Graham Lillibridge, and Teddy Wooding are tied for the team lead in goals with two apiece.
- Allain leads the team with three assists while Connor Sullivan has two.
- Allain also leads the team in points with five, while Cole Donhauser, Sullivan, Lillibridge, and Wooding each have two.
- Yale has utilized three goaltenders so far: Nathan Reid, Connor Hopkins, and Luke Pearson. They have combined for 183 saves while allowing 25 goals.
SCOUTING BROWN
- Brown will face Harvard on Friday evening.
- They enter that game with a 1-7 record overall and a 1-5 ECAC Hockey record.
- The Bears are coming off a 4-0 loss to Providence in the Mayor's Cup.
- Cole Quisenberry and Nathan Plessis lead the team in scoring with two goals each.
- Samuli Niinisaari leads the team in assists with three, while five players are tied with two.
- Quisenberry has four points for the Bears and five players have three.
- Mathieu Caron has appeared in six games in goal for Brown while Luke Kania has appeared in five. Caron has 132 saves this season for a save percentage of .904. Kania has made 125 saves this season for a save percentage of .906.
