HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth's
Mia Leko and
Isaac Weigel are competing at the 2021 Toyota U.S. Open Championship. The meet will take place at the Greensboro Aquatic Center from Dec. 1-4.
Â
The Big Green swim programs compete in short course yards throughout the dual meet season, only getting a taste of long course for a few months over the summer. This championship will be long course meters, meaning their times will be slightly slower than usual.
Â
While in North Carolina, Leko will swim the 100 fly and 200 fly, and Weigel will have the 200 IM, 200 free and 100 free, qualifying with times swam last summer.
Â
The Dartmouth duo will have the opportunity to compete alongside Olympians such as Katie Ledecky, Leah Smith, Bobby Finke and Charlie Clark throughout the meet.
Â
"The U.S. Open is one of the biggest national competitions in USA Swimming," head coach
Jesse Moore said. "It's a terrific opportunity to display the talents of our Dartmouth student-athletes and our sport. Mia and Isaac have an exciting lineup ahead and we're looking forward to what's to come."
Â
Prelims begin every morning at 10 a.m., while the 24 fastest in each event will swim in one of three finals, which start at 7 p.m.
