Dartmouthsports.com is recognizing senior student-athletes who had their winter seasons postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Today's Senior …Let's meet senior Ellie Gozigian of the women's squash team.  Ellie comes to Dartmouth from the Boston, Massachusetts area.
DartmouthSports.com:Â What have your workouts looked like this winter, do you have access to squash courts?
Ellie Gozigian:Â We do have access to our brand-new courts - it is awesome! We have practice 6 days a week and lift twice a week at Floren.
Â
DS.com:Â Looking back over your career what has been your most memorable team moment?
EG:Â Â I think hands down the best moment was beating Drexel this past season at our home courts in Hanover! They have been a rival of ours but always one step ahead and we finally got them 5-4.Â
DS.com:Â What was your most memorable individual moment?
EG:Â
I think beating Hannah Seckendorf in the Kurtz Cup second round in a solid three. I felt the most in control than any match ever and it was a really exciting win because I grew up playing against her in juniors and felt like this college win showed my clear improvement.Â
DS.com:Â What is the best part of practice?
EG:Â Getting to play challenge matches is pretty exciting. It is part of what you are working towards all season and exciting to play real matches to train for the season.
DS.com:Â And the worst?
EG:Â Sit-ups and push-ups! But I know they're so important!
DS.com:Â Do you have a hidden talent you would like people to know about?
EG:Â Nothing very special but I can do a split!
DS.com:Â If you could swap places with one teammate, who would it be and why?
EG:Â I would swap would Emma Mactaggart! She is the kindest teammate ever but also the hardest worker on and off the court and I really admire her work ethic.
 Â
DS.com:Â What are your plans after Dartmouth? Have they changed with the pandemic?
EG:Â I am working in San Francisco! I am really excited and definitely going to join a squash league out there.

What Coach Wiens has to say about Ellie:Â Â
"Ellie came to Dartmouth with a great technique and shot selection, however the consistency with which she played fluctuated quite a lot. She put her head down from day one, worked incredibly hard in practices keeping her focus and paying attention to the details, and made a huge leap forward. So much so, that her teammates recognized her as the most improved player on the team for two years in a row. Unique to Ellie - she somehow seems to have friends wherever we go. No matter the opponent, no matter the venue, when we get off the bus and go into the building, one of the first things we'll see are players from other teams walking towards Ellie, all smiles, to say hi!"
