Dartmouthsports.com is recognizing senior student-athletes who had their winter seasons postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Today's Senior … Sam Supattapone of the men's squash team. Sam comes to Dartmouth from across the street at Hanover High School.Â
DartmouthSports.com:Â What have your workouts looked like this winter, do you have access to squash courts?
Sam Supattapone:Â I don't have access to squash courts so I've just been doing strength and conditioning.
DS.com:Â Looking back over your career what has been your most memorable team moment?
SS: The most memorable moment is when the seniors gave their final speeches last year, which is also the saddest moment since you realize they won't be coming back after seeing them so much for the previous three years. But I remember how they helped me and set good examples (usually) and became good friends.
DS.com:Â What was your most memorable individual moment?
SS:Â Â The most memorable individual moment was the first match I played in the top nine. I also remember a time when the team went for dinner at Koto and we had an interesting experience there to say the least.
DS.com:Â What is the best part of practice?
SS: Seeing my teammates and coaches every day.Â
DS.com:Â And the worst?
SS: The worst part of practice is what we call Laufen. 2-ball feeding is pretty bad, too.
DS.com:Â Do you have a hidden talent you would like people to know about?
SS:Â Foreign accents, but don't ask me to do them.
DS.com:Â If you could swap places with one teammate, who would it be and why?
SS:Â
Reg Anderson for the best two-handed backhand in squash.
DS.com:Â What are your plans after Dartmouth? Have they changed with the pandemic?
SS:Â I will get a job.

What Coach Wiens has to say about Sam:Â
"Sam is an incredibly coachable player, very hard to read on the court not just in terms of his shot selection but also in terms of emotional control. I have rarely seen a player who is able to control his emotions (both positive and negative) that well, never giving the opponent the satisfaction of seeing him get negative or irritated. It's actually exactly the opposite: he always has a smile on his face, frankly, frustrating his opponents in the most kind and gentle way."
