JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Dartmouth senior
Tim Zepf saw his final race come to an unceremonious conclusion Friday night at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East Regional at Hodges Stadium at the University of North Florida.
Â
Running in the national quarterfinal of the 800m, Zepf was in contention to win his heat coming around the final turn, but appeared to be tripped up, causing him to tumble to the track.
Â
Once he returned to his feet, Zepf finished the final few meters, crossing the line in 2:02.08. The Dartmouth coaching staff filed a protest following the conclusion of the event's third and final heat, but the result was upheld.
"Congratulations to Tim on an outstanding Dartmouth career,"Â Marjorie & Herbert Chase '30 Director of Dartmouth Track & Field and Cross Country
Porscha Dobson said afterward. "Despite the many obstacles that that the 2020-21 year put in our way, Tim remained disciplined and focused in his training and class work. I applaud Tim's resilience, positive attitude, leadership and work ethic. He is a high-character person who left his mark at Dartmouth as one of the best runners in its history. Truly a winner."
