HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth field hockey head coach
Mark Egner announced his team's 2021 schedule Friday morning.
Â
For Egner, this is the long-awaited first season on the Big Green's sideline as the 2020 campaign was cancelled due to COVID-19.
Â
Dartmouth will play 17 games in the 2021 season with eight games coming at the friendly and familiar confines of Chase AstroTurf Field. The remaining nine games will be on the road, giving the Green and White plenty of opportunities to prove themselves against top competition.
Â
The year begins with a three-game swing through Northern California with the season opener coming at UC Davis (Sept. 3). A trip to Berkeley to take on Cal (Sept. 5) and to Palo Alto to play Stanford (Sept. 6) will close out the western road trip that makes the start of an exciting schedule.
Â
Following the trip to the Golden State, Dartmouth will return to Hanover to play the next four at home. Central Michigan (Sept. 10), Bryant (Sept. 12), Vermont (Sept. 18) and Merrimack (Sept. 19) make up the four-game non-conference homestand.
Â
The following weekend sees Dartmouth take on Northeastern (Sept. 24) in a Friday night game in Boston before returning to the Upper Valley to host Cornell (Sept. 26) on a Sunday afternoon in the Ivy League opener.
Â
Dartmouth will head out for league road games at Brown (Oct. 2) and Harvard (Oct. 16) sandwiched around a home tilt with Princeton (Oct. 9). A back-to-back home weekend in late October will feature Columbia (Oct. 23) and Maine (Oct. 24) in the final two games of the season at Chase before closing out the season on the road.
Â
That three-game road swing features another back-to-back weekend at Yale (Oct. 30) and Providence (Oct. 31) before closing out the regular season in Philadelphia at Penn (Nov. 6).
