Dartmouth to Induct 36 New Members into Wearers of the Green

The ceremony will take place following the homecoming football game on Oct. 29
HANOVER, N.H. — Dartmouth College and the Department of Athletics and Recreation today announced the 36 new members that will be inducted into the institution's Wearers of the Green in a ceremony on the evening of Saturday, Oct. 29 after the homecoming football game against Harvard.
This class of varsity athletes featured 32 graduates, primarily from classes that graduated in the mid-2010s. Some of the inductees earned their place among the Wearers from their accomplishments while competing for the Big Green in 20 sports represented this year, including 17 All-Americans, two three-time first-team All-Ivy performers and two Ivy League Players of the Year — Kristen Rumley '15 (softball, pitcher) and Nejc Zupan '14 (men's swimming and diving). And then there are the 10 members of the women's sailing national championship teams in 2013 and/or '14.
Then there were other inductees that qualified for the prestigious honor after their playing days at Dartmouth or outside of the collegiate experience altogether, including two Olympians — Anne Hart '14 (cross country skiing in 2018) and Molly Reckford '15 (women's rowing in 2021). There is also a major league professional athlete Patrick Resch '14 (Major League Lacrosse and Premier Lacrosse League, 2015-22).
One of the coaching inductees is also an alumnus — Barry Harwick '77 — who coached the men's cross country team to six Ivy League championships and also served as the head coach of the national team at the 1997 World Championships. The other coach, John Storck, was part of the coaching duo that guided the women's sailing team to the national title in 2013.
Dartmouth is also honoring two people as Honorary Wearers of the Green in Martha Beattie '76 and Digger Donahue '73. Honorary Wearers have demonstrated a deep understanding and appreciation of the role of athletics in the Ivy League and at Dartmouth College, made exceptionally generous contributions of time and/or financial resources that have made a significant impact on the college's athletic programs, and shown a long-time commitment to a broad-based, equitable and high-quality program for Dartmouth's student-athletes.
Wearers of the Green, essentially the Dartmouth Athletics Hall of Fame, was created in 1984 to honor students, alumni and coaches who have met specific criteria for athletic excellence in their respective sports. Previously, a ceremony was held in Boston every five years to induct new members. But since 2014, new members have been inducted on an annual basis during homecoming weekend in Hanover, alternating years to induct varsity athletes, or club-sport athletes and masters champions.
In addition to the induction ceremony, the new inductees will march in the Dartmouth Night Parade on the evening of Friday, Oct. 28, and will be recognized on Memorial Field during halftime of the football game against Harvard the following afternoon.
