BEGINNING OF THE HOME SCHEDULE
The Dartmouth men's hockey team plays their first two home games of the 2022-23 season this weekend. The Big Green host the Bulldogs of Yale on Friday evening before playing the Brown Bears on Saturday evening.
LOOKING BACK TO LAST WEEKEND
Dartmouth opened the 2022-23 season on the road this past weekend. The Big Green fell to Harvard, 5-2, on Friday evening.
Matt Hubbarde and
Trym Løkkeberg claimed the goals for Dartmouth while
Cooper Black made 42 saves in his first collegiate start.
The Big Green then traveled to West Point to take on Army. The Black Knights picked up their first win of the season with an 8-3 victory over the Big Green.
Cooper Flinton,
Ian Pierce and
Luke Haymes all scored while six different players picked up an assist, including Flinton to mark the first multi-point game of his career.
ANNUAL TOY DRIVE!
The Big Green are having their annual toy drive during Saturday's contest against Brown. Bring a new/unopened toy to donate and your party will receive ticket vouchers for the men's hockey vs. UMass Lowell game on December 9 at 7 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock (CHaD).
SCOUTING YALE
The Bulldogs enter the weekend with a 1-1-0, 1-1-0 record. Yale fell to Brown, 2-1, in their previous outing on Sunday afternoon.
Niklas Allain, Briggs Gammill and Connor Sullivan lead the Bulldogs in scoring with one goal apiece. David Chen has a team-high two assists after getting an assist in each of the opening two games. Nathan Reid has handled the goaltending responsibility so far, making 49 saves with a save percentage of .961.
Yale is coached by Keith Allain, who is in his 17
th season at the helm and has a career record of 259-196-45.
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE BULLDOGS
Yale holds a 116-98-15 all-time record over Dartmouth. The Big Green have the lead on home ice, though, with a 51-45-7 record.
The teams split the season series last year. Yale took the win in the first matchup, 3-2, in overtime at Ingalls Rink in early December. Dartmouth won the second time around, 1-0, at Thompson Arena in February.
Mark Gallant scored the lone goal in the win while Clay Stevenson had a 37-save shutout.
SCOUTING BROWN
Brown enters the weekend with a 1-1-0, 1-1-0 record. They will face off against #15 Harvard on Friday evening. The Bears received one vote in the latest DCU/USCHO poll.
Nathan Plessis and Cole Quisenberry lead the Bears in scoring with one goal each. Brett Bliss, Jackson Munro, Matt Sutton and Zackary Tonelli all have one assist. Mathieu Caron has played the full 120 minutes in net so far for Brown, making 48 saves with a save percentage of .941.
Brown is coached by Brendan Whittet, who is in his 14
th season leading the Bears. He enters the weekend with a 115-224-50 all-time record.
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE BEARS
Dartmouth has an 85-71-8 record all-time over Brown. The Big Green also have the advantage at home with a 46-31-2 record.
The Bears swept the season series last year with a 4-0 win in December at Meehan Auditorium and then picked up a 3-2 win at Thompson Arena in February.
Sean Chisholm and Jeff Losurdo scored the goals in the second matchup.
