OFF TO NEW YORK
The Dartmouth men's hockey team heads to New York for ECAC Hockey matchups against Union and Rensselaer. The Big Green take on the Dutchmen on Friday before facing the Engineers on Saturday.
LOOKING BACK TO LAST WEEKEND
Dartmouth played their home opening games against Yale and Brown this past weekend. On Friday night, the Big Green stormed to a 6-0 victory.
Luke Haymes scored twice while
Joey Musa,
Braiden Dorfman,
Trym Løkkeberg and
Ian Pierce each had one. Pierce also chipped in an assist.
Tanner Palocsik and
Nick Unruh each provided two assists.
Cooper Black picked up his first collegiate win and shutout with 28 saves.
The Big Green played to a 2-2 draw against Brown on Saturday and won the shootout to gain the extra point in the standings. Haymes and Dorfman both scored again, each on a power play goal. Musa scored the lone goal of the shootout from either team.
WEEKLY AWARDS
Black and Haymes were both recognized by ECAC Hockey after their performances over the weekend. Black was named the MAC Goaltending Goaltender of the Week and Haymes earned Rookie of the Week honors.
THE STATS
Haymes leads the Big Green in scoring with four goals. Dorfman, Løkkeberg and Pierce each have two. Palocsik has a team-high four assists while
Cooper Flinton has three. Seven players currently have two assists.
Defensively, Dartmouth has blocked 37 shots this season, led by Musa and Dorfman who each have five. Black has started all four games in goal this season, making 102 saves and has a save percentage of .919.
SCOUTING UNION
The Dutchmen enter the weekend with a 4-7-1, 2-2-0 record. Union fell to St. Lawrence, 4-2, in their previous outing on Saturday, November 5.
Tyler Watkins leads the Dutchmen in scoring with six goals while Carter Korpi has five and Josh Nixon has four. Nate Hanley and John Prokop each have nine assists. Chaz Smedsrud and Chris Theodore are tied for second with six apiece.
Connor Murphy has started all but one game for Union so far, making 280 saves and allowing 35 goals for a save percentage of .889.
Union is coached by Josh Hauge who is in his first season as head coach. No stranger to ECAC Hockey, Hauge spent seven seasons at Clarkson prior to joining the Dutchmen.
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE DUTCHMEN
Dartmouth is 27-34-7 all-time against Union and are 11-20-5 on the road.
The Dutchmen swept last year's series with a 3-2 win in Hanover and a 3-2 victory in overtime in Schenectady to end the regular season.
The Big Green last defeated the Dutchmen in 2020 with a 5-3 win at Thompson Arena, but they are looking for their first win in Schenectady since November 7, 2014, when they won 4-3 in overtime.
SCOUTING RENSSELAER
Rensselaer enters the weekend with a 5-4-0, 1-3-0 record. They face #13 Harvard on Friday evening. The Engineers fell to Clarkson, 3-0, in their previous game on Saturday evening.
Jakob Lee and TJ Walsh lead the team in scoring with four goals apiece. Lee also leads in assists with six while Jack Agnew has five and Lauri Sertti and Max Smolinski have four.
Jack Watson has started all nine games between the pipes, making 216 saves and allowing 22 goals for a save percentage of .908.
The Engineers are coached by Dave Smith, who is in his sixth year at the helm. He currently has a 56-92-12, 35-52-5 record with RPI.
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE ENGINEERS
Dartmouth has a 43-52-6 record all-time against the Engineers. Rensselaer swept the season series a year ago before the two teams faced off against each other in the opening round of the ECAC Hockey Tournament.
With the Big Green traveling to the Houston Field House in Troy, Dartmouth took the win in game one by a score of 3-2. The Engineers responded by taking games two and three to advance to the next round.

WHAT'S AHEAD
Dartmouth will next make the trip overseas to Belfast, Northern Ireland during the week of Thanksgiving for the Friendship Four. The Big Green will take on fellow ECAC Hockey member Quinnipiac on Friday, November 25, before facing UMass Amherst or UMass Lowell the following day.
