POTSDAM, N.Y. — The Dartmouth women's hockey team fell to No. 11 Clarkson on Saturday afternoon on the road. The Big Green could not answer Clarkson's offensive output, dropping a 5-0 ECAC Hockey tilt at Cheel Arena in Potsdam, New York.
Dartmouth was outshot by the Golden Knights, 53-14 over the course of the game. Sophomore
Maggie Emerson started the contest, making 30 saves in 44:21 of action. Freshman
Elle Sullivan entered the game in the third, stopping all 15 shots she faced from Clarkson.
The Big Green were bested in the faceoff circle, as Clarkson won 55.2 percent of the draws.
Georgia Kraus won 11 faceoffs, which led her squad. Clarkson's goaltender Michelle Pasiechnyk recorded a shutout and added an assist for the Golden Knights.
Clarkson struck quickly in the first, as Anne Cherkowski found the back of the net just 2:33 into the opening period on the power play. The Golden Knights tacked on another goal just past the halfway mark of the frame, as Olivia Hanson scored to give Clarkson a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.
Dartmouth was outshot 18-4 in the opening period, as Dartmouth was unable to generate strong chances against Pasiechnyk.
The Golden Knights scored a shorthanded goal in the second period, as Gabrielle David capitalized on a turnover from the Big Green. She buried her breakaway opportunity to extend Clarkson's lead to three.
David found the back of the net for the second time at 16:38 of the second, which was assisted by Nicole Gosling and Pasiechnyk. Dartmouth trailed 4-0 as the third period approached.
Clarkson received a third-straight goal from David just 33 seconds into the final period to extend the lead further. Sullivan entered the game with 15:32 remaining in the game and stopped numerous strong chances to keep Clarkson's lead from increasing.
The Big Green fell to 3-10-0 and 1-8-0 in ECAC Hockey play while Clarkson moved to 16-5-1 and 5-3-0 in the conference. Dartmouth fell to 13-29-5 against the Golden Knights in the all-time series.
Dartmouth is back in action on Wednesday, December 7 for a non-conference game against Merrimack on the road. The puck drops at 7 p.m. and a stream is available on ESPN+.
