HANOVER, N.H. — In the midst of a successful start to her collegiate career, freshman
Chiara Lopach of the Dartmouth women's swimming and diving team is set to compete in the 2022 Winter Senior National Championships held in Morgantown, West Virginia beginning Wednesday, Dec. 14.
Â
To qualify for the prestigious event that will pit her against some of the nation's premier competition, Lopach finished among the top-eight at junior nationals. She will appear in the synchronized 3-meter event alongside a wide range of fellow qualifiers, which includes current and former Olympians, plus other top-level collegiate divers. Those who have earned the right to compete in Morgantown are hopeful to qualify for the U.S. Olympic Trials.
Â
"We are excited for Chiara; she is representing her team back home but is also representing the Dartmouth swimming and diving program," diving coach
Chris Hamilton said. "I will be excited to see how she does. This type of experience is only going to make her a better competitor in our league and at the NCAA level."
Â
Lopach's first appearance for the Big Green saw her achieve a score of 324.23 on the 3-meter board during a scrimmage against Maine, marking the highest score in program history for the event. The Denver, Colorado native defeated both Cornell and Harvard with a first-place finish in the 3-meter dive and qualified for NCAA Zone Championships with a score of 284.60 in her home debut. Lopach recently placed second in the 1-meter dive and fourth on the 3-meter board at the Miami University Invitational.

The Dartmouth swimming and diving programs return to action Sunday, Dec. 18Â at the CSCAA Open Water Championship in Biscayne Bay, Florida.
