HANOVER, N.H. — Piper Edwards of the Dartmouth field hockey team earned recognition as a NFHCA Division I Scholar of Distinction for the 2021-22 year.
Â
The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) honor is presented to student-athletes who achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.9 or higher through the first semester of the 2021-22 academic year. This season, just 286 field hockey players from across Division I were recognized for reaching such high academic standards.
Â
"The life of a student-athlete is not an easy one. Balancing academics with the demands of an NCAA season is a tough thing," said head coach
Mark Egner. "Piper has shown that she is prepared for the challenges that this presents. I am in awe of our student-athletes here at Dartmouth College and success like Piper's shows how possible it is to excel in the classroom while we compete at the top level on the field."
Â
"Piper is off to a fantastic start here at Dartmouth," Egner continued. "Despite some early setbacks with injuries, she has risen to the challenge and sets the standard for a scholar-athlete. I am so proud of her achievement this Fall."
