KNOXVILLE, TENN. — Dartmouth (2-8) fell to South Alabama (6-13) by a score of 5-2, Sunday morning on the final day of play at the Tennessee Invitational. Freshman Rachel McCarroll got her first career start from the circle in the loss.

The first three innings were scoreless as both pitchers went back and forth. The Big Green finally broke through in the fourth inning. Sophomore Mary Beth Cahalan and Freshman Alaana Panu each scored to give Dartmouth a 2-0 lead.

The Jaguars offense began to come alive in the bottom of the fourth. They homered to cut the lead to 2-1 headed into the fifth. South Alabama followed that up with a four run fifth inning which proved to be the difference in the game.

McCarroll gave up only four hits and one earned run in four innings pitched. Freshman Megan Hagge was credited with the loss.

The Big Green have 10 days off before they head to Atlanta, Ga., for a matchup with Georgia State on March 17. They are set to compete in the UGA Classic hosted by Georgia on March 18-20.
