Throughout the summer, DartmouthSports.com will be focusing on members of the Class of 2024 who are currently in their "Sophomore Summers" presented by the Norwich Inn.
This installment focuses on
Cade Keesling of the men's soccer team. Keesling appeared in 12 games for the Big Green during the 2021 season.
DartmouthSports.com: What was it in the recruiting process that sold you on Dartmouth?
Cade Keesling: I think the three things that sold me were the coaches, the players, and the reputation of the school in general. I immediately felt a connection with the coaches and the players, and compared to other schools I had visited, that this would be a place that would invest in me the most. Additionally, I was searching for a school that could provide me with a well-rounded, rigorous liberal arts education that also had a strong athletic presence; Dartmouth was the perfect fit.
DS: If you could play another sport at Dartmouth, what would it be and why?
CK: I would probably try to kick for the football team- I kicked in high school and had an absolute blast with it.
DS: How is Hanover different or similar to where you grew up?
CK: Hanover is definitely quieter than where I am from (suburbs of Minneapolis). Though it was initially difficult to adjust to stores closing before 8:00 pm most nights, I think the picturesque landscape and plethora of outdoor activities makes it all worth it.
DS: What show do you binge watch?
CK: The Office.
DS: What is your useless/hidden talent?
CK: It's pretty useless nowadays but when I was younger, I got pretty good at card tricks.
DS: What would be your best advice to your 15-year-old self?
CK: If I had to give my younger self some advice, I would say to not stress out so much about the future (AP tests, colleges, jobs, etc.). Everything happens for a reason and as you work hard the details will fall into place.
DS: If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why?
CK: I would go to Italy, and spend about a week or two between Rome, Venice, and Florence. A couple of my friends went over spring break and talk about how much of a once-in-a-lifetime experience it was and ever since I've been obsessed with the idea of eating some proper Italian food.
