HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth men's soccer team returns to Burnham Field for its final nonconference match before Ivy League competition. The Big Green take on the Stonehill Skyhawks on Saturday, Sept. 24 in Hanover.
Dartmouth last took the field on Sept. 17 against the UAlbany Great Danes on the road. Down by one goal late in the match, a foul in the 18-yard box led to a penalty kick opportunity for
David Alino. The senior made the most of the opportunity, scoring his first goal of the season to help Dartmouth to a 1-1 draw on the road.
The Big Green are set for their first-ever matchup with Stonehill this weekend. The Skyhawks, who previously competed at the Division II level, joined the Division I Northeast Conference this season. Stonehill was led into the transition to Division I by 14-year head coach, Jim Reddish.
Stonehill heads to Hanover this weekend with a record of 2-5-0 on the season. The Skyhawks have yet to play a match at home and Saturday's match against Dartmouth will mark its last on the road before returning to Easton, Mass. on Thursday, Sept. 29.
Dartmouth is set for just its third match at home on Saturday. The Big Green were slated to take on UConn at home on Sept. 20. The match was pushed to 2023 following schedule constraints after a delayed match featuring UConn and Creighton in Omaha, Neb. last weekend.
The Big Green look to claim its first victory over an opponent from the Northeast Conference. Dartmouth previously hosted NEC opponent LIU on Sept. 10 but was unable to win its home-opener against the Sharks.
