HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth women's swimming and diving team fell to UMass and Northeastern as the Tate Ramsden Invitational concluded on Saturday at Karl Michael Pool, but the Big Green saw several exciting performances, including a historic time by freshman
Julianne Jones in the 200 breast.
Jones raced to a top finish in the event with a time of 2:16.60, which marked a pool record and ranks third in program history. She had won the 200 back with a meet-record 2:01.75 just minutes prior. Jones also added a victory in the 400 IM (4:29.98). The freshman totaled four first-place finishes between both days of the invitational.
As a team, Dartmouth won seven events over the course of the weekend after winning three on the opening day.
Christina Cianciolo, Dartmouth's lone senior, won the 1650 free with a time of 17:25.78 after taking the 500 free on Friday. Cianciolo holds both the pool and meet record in the 1650 free, set in the 2020 Tate Ramsden Invitational. She also earned a second-place finish, defeating UMass, in the 200 free with a time of 1:54.59.
Dartmouth defeated Northeastern in the 200 fly behind
Lindsey Drumm's third-place finish at 2:08.42 and the 100 free with
Rachel Zhang's fourth-place finish (55.57). Zhang also helped Dartmouth top UMass in the 100 breast with her 1:10.02 mark.
Alyssa Palacios, who won the 3-meter dive on Friday, placed third on the 1-meter board on Saturday after earning a 267.85.
The Big Green fell to Northeastern by a score of 171-134 and UMass, 192-136. Northeastern earned a 191-130 victory over UMass.
Dartmouth hosts conference action next weekend as the Big Green welcome Columbia on Saturday, Jan. 28 at noon. It's the final meet before the Ivy league Championship, which begins Wednesday, Feb. 15 at Princeton.
