HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth sailing team wrapped up September and began October by competing in four events this weekend, highlighted by finishing second out of 20 teams at the Danmark Trophy and fourth of 17 teams at the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship Round One. The Big Green also competed for the Moody Trophy and Smith Trophy.
The Danmark Trophy saw Dartmouth finish second to only Harvard and ahead of 18 other teams. The Big Green's "A" division team of
Boyd Bragg and
Yumi Yoshiyasu finished first in two of the 14 races, along with three other second-place finishes and two third-place finishes. Their total score of 73 was just two behind first place for the "A" division.
Meanwhile, Dartmouth came in fourth in the first round of the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship, advancing to the ACC finals on Oct. 14-15. The "A" division team of
Maddie Hawkins and
Lilly Baker posted a score of 64, which was good for second in their division. Hawkins and Baker posted four first-place finishes (out of 17 races), finishing in the top five in all but two races on the weekend. The "B" division team of
Taylor Eastman,
Gray Hemans and
Phoebe Lee also had a first, two second and a third-place finish.
In the Moody Trophy, Dartmouth's "A" division team of
James Paul and
Vivian Heitkoetter twice came in first and once placed second. The Big Green also competed for the Smith Trophy, hosted by MIT.
