SEVEN-GAME ROAD STRETCH
The Dartmouth men's hockey team starts a seven-game road stretch this weekend with a pair of ECAC Hockey matchups at No. 7 Cornell and Colgate. The Big Green open the weekend against the Big Red on Friday followed by a tilt against the Raiders on Saturday. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m.
FIVE-POINT WEEKEND AT THOMPSON
Dartmouth collected five points in the standings this past weekend at Thompson. The Big Green skated to a 2-2 draw against defending national champion and No. 8 Quinnipiac before winning the ensuing the shootout.
Joey Musa and
Luke Haymes each scored for the Big Green while
Cooper Black made a season-high 38 saves.
Nikita Nikora scored the lone goal in the shootout, coming in the third round.
The Big Green followed that up by earning their first win of the season on Saturday, a 5-4 victory over Princeton.
CJ Foley led the way with two goals and one assist and
Braiden Dorfman tallied one goal and two assists. Musa and Haymes both scored for the second-straight night while Nikora recorded three assists.
In a back-and-forth contest that saw Princeton come back from a two-goal deficit in the fourth, including the equalizer with under two minutes to go, Foley scored the game-winning goal with less than a minute remaining in regulation to give the Big Green all three points.
DEFENDER OF THE WEEK
Foley was named the ECAC Hockey Defender of the Week after his performance over the weekend, helping the Big Green to earn five points while recording three points in the 5-4 victory over Princeton.
SCOUTING CORNELL
Cornell enters Friday's game with a 4-0-0 overall record and 2-0-0 record in ECAC Hockey. The Big Red are currently ranked No. 7 in the latest USCHO poll and are coming off a weekend sweep over Yale (3-1) and Brown (7-1).
Gabriel Seger leads the team in scoring with seven points having scored five goals along with two assists. Kyle Penney and Ryan Walsh each have three goals for the Big Red while Ben Robertson has a team-high five assists.
Ian Shane has started all four games in net for Cornell, making 69 saves and allowing just three goals for a save percentage of .958.
The Big Red had two ECAC Hockey weekly award winners this past weekend as Seger was named the Forward of the Week, presented by Bluebird by Lark Hotels, and Shane was named the MAC Goaltending Goaltender of the Week.
The Big Green are 50-87-7 all-time against the Big Red. Cornell swept the series last season with a 1-0 victory in Ithaca and a 3-2 win at Thompson. Dartmouth is looking to get its first victory in Ithaca since a 4-2 triumph on Jan. 28, 2017.
SCOUTING COLGATE
Colgate enters the weekend with a 3-4-1 overall record and a 1-1-0 league record. The Raiders are coming off a split weekend, falling to Brown, 3-2, before defeating Yale, 7-1. They will play Harvard on Friday evening.
Ross Mitton and Tommy Bergsland both have seven points for the Raiders. Mitton has scored four goals and has three assists and Bergsland has tallied one goal and six assists. Nic Belpedio, Pierson Brandon and Ryan McGuire all have three goals while Brett Chorske has five assists.
Carter Gylander has started seven of the eight games between the pipes for Colgate. He has made 181 saves and boasts a save percentage of .914.
The Big Green are 53-55-8 all-time against the Raiders. Colgate won all three matchups in the 2022-23 season, picking up 5-1 and 4-3 (OT) victories in the regular season and a 5-3 win in the first round of the ECAC Hockey tournament.
