NON-CONFERENCE PLAY COMES TO AN END
The Dartmouth women's hockey team plays its final two non-conference games of the season over the next week, first with a trip to Granite State rival New Hampshire on Sunday before returning to Thompson Arena on Wednesday evening for a matchup against Franklin Pierce.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green played two non-conference contests just prior to the midseason break. Dartmouth scored a season-high seven goals in a 7-1 victory over Post on Dec. 6, which included several top individual performances.
Kenzie Bachelor assisted on all but two of the Big Green's goals, becoming the first Dartmouth player in nearly 16 years to register five or more points in a game. Meanwhile,
Izee Powell netted a pair of power play goals for the first multi-goal game of her career.
Dartmouth then traveled to Portland, Maine a few days later to take on the Black Bears of Maine in a neutral site contest at Cross Insurance Arena.
Meredith Jensen and
Mia Buonarosa both tallied the first goals of their collegiate career goals while
Laura Fuoco scored her fifth goal of the season.
GOOD LUCK COACH!
Dartmouth will be without head coach
Liz Keady Norton for the next couple of weeks as she will be heading to Switzerland with team USA for the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Under-18 Women's World Championship. Keady Norton was named the head coach last April after previously serving as an assistant coach during last year's edition of the tournament.
Keady Norton looks to lead the U.S. to its ninth gold medal at the world championship and first since 2020.
SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE
New Hampshire comes into Sunday's game with a 9-9-1 overall record and a 6-6-1 record in Hockey East. The Wildcats fell to fellow ECAC Hockey and Ivy League foe Brown, 4-2, in their last outing back on Dec. 10.
Kira Juodikis leads UNH in goals (8), assists (8) and points (16). Brooke Hammer, Shea Verrier and Chavonne Truter each have five goals. Blueliners Marina Alvarez and Kyla Bent sit second on the team in assists with seven.
Sedona Blair has started all 19 games in goal for the Wildcats this season, making 450 saves with a .913 save percentage.
The Big Green are looking for its second-straight win against the Wildcats, having won the last matchup between the two teams, 4-3 in overtime during the 2021-22 season.
SCOUTING FRANKLIN PIERCE
Franklin Pierce enters the contest with a 7-10 overall record and a 7-8-0 record in the NEWHA. The Ravens are coming off a split weekend against Assumption back on Dec. 8 and 9. Franklin Pierce won at home the first night, 4-0, before the Greyhounds took the victory in the return matchup, also 4-0, the following night.
Mikayla Kelley leads the way in goals for the Ravens with seven while Anna Caumo and Alyssa Kawa sit right behind in second with six each. Maggie Korneta and Emilie Prive are tied for the team lead in assists with nine apiece.
The Ravens have split time between three goaltenders this season as Gwen Bowler, Jill Hertl and Olivia Klunowski have each started at least two games. The trio have combined to make 471 saves and have allowed 43 goals for a save percentage of .916.
Dartmouth will look to remain unbeaten against Franklin Pierce, having won the two times that the two teams have played each other.
