HOCKEY IN THE DESERT
The Dartmouth men's hockey team heads to Arizona this weekend to take on the Arizona State Sun Devils at Mullett Arena. This will be the first time that the Big Green have played the Sun Devils.
The two games against Arizona State closes out a seven-game road stretch for the Big Green, having last played at home against Princeton on Saturday, Nov. 4.
LAST WEEKEND IN THE NORTH COUNTRY
The Big Green returned to ECAC Hockey action last weekend in the North Country against St. Lawrence and Clarkson. The Saints took the win on Friday evening, 3-1, with the help of special teams play, having scored two short-handed goals.
Dartmouth skated to a 2-2 tie against Clarkson the following day.
Cooper Flinton scored early to put the Big Green ahead 1-0, but the Golden Knights responded with two goals of their own to take the lead before the first intermission. As time ran down,
Sean Chisholm scored the equalizer with a minute and a half to go in the third period to force overtime. While Clarkson edged out Dartmouth in the shootout, the Big Green left Cheel Arena with a point to remain in the top half of the ECAC Hockey standings.
THE STATS
Luke Haymes and
Nikita Nikora share the team lead in points with seven each. Haymes has two goals and five assists while Nikora has one tally with six assists.
John Fusco and Flinton lead the Big Green in goals with three.
Cooper Black has started eight games in net for Dartmouth, making 236 saves to go with a .925 saves percentage.
The Big Green have played three nationally ranked opponents this season and are unbeaten in those games with a 0-0-3 record.
SCOUTING ARIZONA STATE
Arizona State enters with an 11-3-2 overall record. The Sun Devils are currently ranked No. 12 in both the USCHO and USA Hockey national polls and are coming off a 1-0-1 weekend at Colorado College. They tied the Tigers in the first game, 2-2, before claiming a 2-0 victory the following evening.
Tyler Gratton, Dylan Jackson and Matthew Kopperud each have seven goals for the Sun Devils while Alex Young, a First Team All-ECAC Hockey selection with Colgate in 2022-23, has six. Two players are in double digits for assists as Lukas Sillinger has 12 and Tim Lovell has 11.
TJ Semptimphelter has played 14 games between the pipes for Arizona State, making 13 starts. He has 369 stops this year and boasts a .923 saves percentage.
The Big Green will be the first of three ECAC Hockey opponents for the Sun Devils this season. They will take on Harvard in early January in the Desert Hockey Classic. The following weekend, Cornell makes the trip to Tempe for a pair of games.

WHAT'S AHEAD
Dartmouth will be off for several weeks, returning to action with the 34
th annual Ledyard Classic just before the start of the New Year. The four-game tournament will be held on Friday, Dec. 29 and Saturday, Dec. 30 and will be available to stream on ESPN+. Dartmouth's game against Lake Superior State will also be on NESN while Saturday's game against either Maine or RIT will be on NESN+.
