PRINCETON, N.J. — After seeing a program record fall on Friday, the Dartmouth women's swimming and diving team wrapped up the Ivy League Championships Saturday at Princeton's DeNunzio Pool. The Big Green placed eighth with 255.5 points, while Princeton earned the title.
Â
"I'm incredibly proud of our women for bringing great energy and fearlessness into a challenging week," said head coach
Milana Socha. "As a small team we chose to focus on ourselves and the controllable, and because the women executed that to a high degree, we were able to walk away with a team record, numerous program top-10 times, many lifetime bests and superb performances all around."
Â
Following her historic effort on Day 3,
Julianne Jones narrowly missed another program record – this time in the 200 breast. Her time of 2:15.21, which placed ninth (tops in the B final), ranked second all-time.
Â
Lane Murray swam the 100 free in a lifetime-best 51.00 seconds during prelims, marking the ninth-best time in program history. She returned for finals and placed 23rd at 51.56 seconds. Murray also registered the eighth-best time in program history in the 50 free (23.42).
Â
Lindsey Drumm also cracked the top-10 list, swimming a 2:03.27 in the 200 fly finals.
Â
Christina Cianciolo was strong in the 1650 free, placing ninth with a time of 16:58.31.
Carly Joerin placed 16th, out-touching swimmers from Harvard and Penn with her 17:15.32 mark.
Â
Zoe Moon appeared in the 200 back C final and placed 20th with a time of 2:04.61.
Sydney Rawie was another finalist in the event and placed 22nd (2:05.76).
Â
"The way this team has connected and grown over the course of the season makes me incredibly excited for what we can do in future seasons," Socha added. "The team did a great job celebrating our lone senior,
Christina Cianciolo. Without her leadership, our team would not have been able to manage the ups and downs of the four-day meet so well. This week was a celebration of all this team has been through and the hard work they have put into their sport and each other."
