HANOVER, N.H. – With the season opener quickly approaching on Saturday, Apr. 1, the Dartmouth men's heavyweight rowing team stands tied for seventh in the Preseason IRCA/IRA Coaches Poll. The Big Green are the fourth Ivy League team in the rankings, ahead of Princeton, Cornell, Penn and Columbia.
The University of California-Berkeley came in first with 300 points and 12 first-place votes. Yale followed in second (284 points), followed by Syracuse (272), Harvard (252), Brown (251) and Washington (233). Dartmouth and Northeastern were tied for seventh with 225 points. Princeton (209) and Wisconsin (182) rounded out the top 10.
Last season, Dartmouth finished fifth overall at the IRA National Championship, led by the Second Varsity Eight earning a medal for a second straight year, garnering bronze. Yale finished first, followed by California, Washington and Brown.
The Big Green open their spring schedule on Saturday, Apr. 1 when they face MIT and Holy Cross.
