BERLIN, Md. — The Dartmouth men's golf team opened the Battle at Rum Pointe with a strong first round on Saturday. The Big Green received consistent performances throughout the day, finishing the day tied for fourth in a field of 17 teams.

Eli Kimche,
Mark Turner,
Charles Petrie,
Alex Gu and
Cameron Keith each represented the Big Green on Saturday.
Kimche and Turner each shot 2-under par, closing the day tied for eighth. Turner, one of Dartmouth's co-captains, was impressive, recording three birdies and an eagle on the par-4 15th hole. He was consistent on both the front and back nine holes, shooting one-under par on each.
Kimche was particularly consistent on the back nine, recording one eagle and eight pars to close the day at 2-under 70. He registered a trio of birdies, shooting even on the front nine.
Petrie, the Big Green's other co-captain, was steady throughout the day, recording 12 pars and two birdies. He finished his day with a score of 72.
Gu closed the first round of the event shooting 4-over par. He opened the day with four-straight pars and closed the afternoon with three. Keith finished the day tied for 68th, shooting 6-over 78.
Eli Thrasher competed as an individual and tied Petrie for 24th, shooting even through the opening round.
LIU finished the first round in first place, shooting 8-under par. Rider and host-team Iona rounded out the top three, while Dartmouth and Colgate enter the final round tied for fourth.
The Big Green close out their time at the Battle at Rum Pointe tomorrow for one final round. The shotgun start is slated for 9 a.m.
