MORGANTOWN, W.V. — Freshman
Everett Tai of the Dartmouth men's swimming and diving team represented the Big Green at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships at West Virginia University after an impressive rookie campaign that allowed him to qualify on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards.
"Everett did a great job diving on both boards this past week," said diving coach
Chris Hamilton. "He missed finals by less than 6 points in the 3-meter and showed that he can compete not only at the Ivy League but against schools like Penn State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Boston College and many others. I look forward to seeing how he takes this experience as a freshman to get better every day for the next three years."
Â
Tai placed 30th in the 1-meter prelim/quarterfinal with a score of 259.10 and was 23rd on the 3-meter board, landing a score of 295.65.
Â
During the regular season, Tai qualified for the championship events with his performances at the Tate Ramsden Invitational and later in the Big Green's final dual meet against Columbia. He placed second on the 1-meter board with a score of 300.05 against UMass in the Tate Ramsden Invitational and registered a score of 314.18 on the 3-meter board against Columbia, placing third. Earlier in the season, he was the highest scorer on both boards at Bates.
