HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth sailing team has been selected to compete at the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Team Race National Championship events in both the women's and open divisions. The Big Green will seek a pair of national titles as an at-large selection in both regattas.
The Big Green have shown their ability to compete with the best teams in the nation throughout a successful spring season. Dartmouth will compete as the fourth seed in the women's regattas and earned a No. 7 seed in open competition.
"We are thrilled to have been selected for the National Championship in both open and women's team racing," head coach
Justin Assad said. "This was a season-long goal for our team, and we look forward to continuing our preparation for these championships."
Last weekend, Dartmouth competed at the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA) Women's Team Race Championship. The Big Green took second place at the event in a field of 10 teams. Dartmouth closed the weekend with a 7-1 record in second and third rounds of the event.
The Big Green took fifth at the NEISA Open Team Race Championship event two weeks ago, taking fifth place in a competitive field of teams.
The women will take part in the first NEISA Team Race Championship event, which will be hosted by Stanford, next weekend, April 29-30. The open event will take place on May 27-29 and will be hosted by the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
