Chidimma Okpara was named Second Team All-Ivy and Ashley Hess was the Big Green’s Academic All-Ivy honoree
HANOVER, N.H. — Seniors Chidimma Okpara and Ashley Hess of the Dartmouth women's tennis team both received Ivy League postseason honors, per the conference's release on Thursday afternoon. Okpara was named Second Team All-Ivy Singles for a second straight season, while Hess landed on the Academic All-Ivy Team.
Okpara, a native of Bronxville, New York, played No. 1 singles for the duration of her senior campaign and picked up five wins during the 2023 season, including a recent clutch performance that lifted the Big Green over Penn, 4-3, in the season finale.
Hess, a government and economics major, was named to the Academic All-Ivy Team, which recognizes student-athletes who made significant contributions to their teams while maintaining good academic standing. The Cedar Grove, New Jersey native played No. 1 doubles alongside Okpara throughout the Ivy League season and competed at No. 2 singles, earning six wins in 2023.
