PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Jake Dalton took second in the hammer throw with a throw of 61.96m to earn the Big Green eight points at the men's track and field team competed at the opening day of the Ivy League Outdoor Heptagonal Track & Field Championships on Saturday at Penn's Franklin Field.
Dalton's throw of 61.96m came on the first attempt.
Michael Gabriel earned one point for the Big Green after placing sixth with a throw of 58.39m.
Colton McMaster threw for a PR of 55.32m.
Nils Wildberg tied his PR of 7.51m in the long jump, placing fourth in the event to earn Dartmouth four points.
DJ Matusz and
J'Voughnn Blake advanced to the finals of the 800m after placing first and fourth in the prelims. Matusz won the first heat with a time of 1:49.76, the top overall time. Blake earned his spot in the finals with a time of 1:50.68, finishing second in his heat and fourth overall.
Liam Murray advanced to the finals of the 800m race after placing eighth in the prelims with a time of 47.86 seconds.
Ethan Hughes is currently fifth in the decathlon after the first five events. The remaining five events are scheduled for tomorrow.
Dartmouth continues its weekend competition tomorrow with the second day of the Ivy League Championships. The meet is available to stream nationally on ESPN+ and internationally on Stretch Internet. Live results are available through Leone Timing.
