HOUSTON — Back in action for the first time since sweeping the Ivy 7s Championship cups at home two weeks ago, the Dartmouth women's rugby team was unbeaten on the opening day of the USA Rugby 7s Collegiate Championships with three shutouts to its credit on Saturday at AVEVA Stadium.
The Big Green are set to take on Lindenwood in Sunday's semifinal match at 10:20 a.m. EDT (9:20 a.m. CT).
Dominant wins over LIU, West Chester and Central Washington sent Dartmouth to a quarterfinal match with Army West Point, which resulted in a 22-0 Big Green victory behind tries from
Sadie Schier,
Kristin Bitter,
Asialeata Meni and
Ariana Ramsey.
Ramsey scored a pair of tries in the day's opening match against West Chester as Dartmouth blanked LIU, 36-0. The Olympian again scored twice in a 43-0 rout of West Chester, and it was MA Sorensen Award finalist Bitter's turn to score multiple tries in a 24-7 win over Central Washington.
Sunday's semifinal against Lindenwood will air on the Rugby Network and the winner will advance to the championship match, set for 4 p.m. EDT.
