HANOVER, N.H. — Dartmouth sits two positions away from a championship following the first day of the final round of the Open Fleet Race National Championship regatta. The Big Green sailed well on the waters of Kings Point, New York and look to close the gap tomorrow to claim an Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ISCA) national title with a strong showing tomorrow.
Â
Boyd Bragg and
Yumi Yoshiyasu were stellar in the "A" division for the Big Green, finishing the first day of the finals in first place. The duo secured three first-place finishes in the opening six races, the most of any pair in the competition, regardless of division. Bragg and Yoshiyasu also finished in the top 10 in every race, securing four top-three finishes.
Â
Maddie Hawkins and
Aisling Sullivan were impressive in the "B" division, as the pair sit in fourth place following Thursday's action. Hawkins and Sullivan picked up a pair of wins against a stacked field of competitors and look to help Dartmouth claim a championship tomorrow.
Â
Stanford leads the field of 18 teams with 52 points, followed closely by Yale with 58. Dartmouth, Harvard and Brown round out the top five, as the Ivy League displayed its dominance on the waters of Kings Point.
