HANOVER, N.H. — Head women's rugby coach
Katie Dowty has announced
Nyah Cordero,
Nicole Ihensekhien and
Sadie Schier as Dartmouth's captains for the 2023-24 campaign.
The trio assume leadership duties after
Lauren Ferridge,
Ariana Ramsey and
Sophie Ragg served as captains during the 2022-23 season, with each earning All-NIRA honors while leading the Big Green to a second straight NIRA title.
Cordero, a senior with a 2022 All-NIRA nod to her credit, scored two tries a season ago with her first coming in the home opener against Quinnipiac and another in the regular season finale against Brown, when the Big Green sealed a third consecutive Ivy Championship. Fellow senior Ihensekhien scored three tries last season, including one in the NIRA Semifinal victory over Quinnipiac. Schier, a junior, scored tries in back-to-back matches late in the season against Brown and Quinnipiac.
Dartmouth's season kicks off on Friday, Sept. 1 with a trip to Penn State and the schedule features three home matches, including a rematch of the 2022 NIRA Final with Harvard set for Saturday, Oct. 21. In addition to Cordero, the Big Green also return 2022 All-NIRA honorees
Asialeata Meni and
Jordan Duncan.
