HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth sailing team embarked on its slate of regattas for the 2023-24 season last weekend. The Big Green saw success at the Harry Anderson Jr., Toni Deutsch '58 and Bears Invite events to kick off the fall season.
The weekend was highlighted by the performances of a pair of freshmen at the Harry Anderson Jr. Regatta, hosted by Yale. In the "B" division,
Ryan Satterberg and
Lilly Baker claimed first in their group, winning four of the nine races they competed in. The pair also finished in the top three in seven races.
Oliver Hurwitz and Madeleine Hughes competed in the "A" division, as Dartmouth claimed sixth in a field of 18 teams.
Dartmouth sent a pair of teams to the Toni Deutsch '58 Regatta, which was hosted by MIT. The Big Green's first team, which consisted of
Taylor Eastman,
Phoebe Lee,
Bella Casaretto and
Faye Benjamin, finished second. Dartmouth's second team placed 10
th in a field of 15 programs.
The Big Green also sent six teams to the Bears Invite, a fundamental regatta hosted by Brown. Dartmouth's best performance at the event came from the pair of Ben Sheppard and
Vivian Heitkoetter, as the freshmen secured a seventh-place finish.

The Big Green will set sail for their second weekend of action from Sept. 16-17 at a trio of regattas. Dartmouth will take part in the New England Conference Championships, hosted by Brown, the Hatch Brown event, hosted by MIT and the Regis Trophy, which will be hosted by Boston University and Harvard.
