HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth sailing team impressed in its third weekend of the fall, enjoying success at three different regattas the weekend of Sept. 23-24. The Big Green sailed in the Mrs. Hurst Bowl, Sherman Hoyt Trophy and Callagy Ross Trophy events, winning the Callagy Ross Trophy.
In the Mrs. Hurst Bowl hosted by Bowdoin, the Big Green captured third and fourth, respectively, out of 18 teams. Dartmouth's first team consisted of
Taylor Eastman,
Phoebe Lee,
Sarah Young and
Vivian Heitkoetter; the Big Green captured first in one of the five races in the "A" division, while winning two of the five in the "B" division.
Bella Casaretto,
Faye Benjamin,
Gray Hemans and
Madeline Koelbel made up Dartmouth's second team.
On Saturday, only four races were completed in five hours of racing due to weak and shifty winds. Only one race was competed on Sunday.
Dartmouth took home first place out of nine teams at the Callagy Ross Trophy, hosted by the University of Vermont.
Benjamin Sheppard and
Sophie Menyhart finished first in two of their six races to highlight the strong weekend. Similar to the Mrs. Hurst Bowl, only six races were completed over the two days.
The Sherman Hoyt Trophy hosted by Brown saw Dartmouth place 10th out of 18-team field. Despite an up-and-down event, the Big Green finished first in one race in both the "A" and "B" divisions, with multiple other top three finishes by the "A" division, which included
Boyd Bragg as skipper with
Reese Bragg or
Maddie Hughes as crew.
