HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth women's swimming and diving team, coming off last weekend's win over Bates, nearly notched an Ivy League victory on Saturday at Karl Michael Pool, but fell to both Penn (157-143) and Yale (226-74).
Â
"To be close with Penn while down some scoring members of our roster for this meet due to sickness shows that our women are stepping up and getting more competitive," said head coach
Milana Socha. "We've still got some work to do in the next couple meets to make sure we will be able to fight at our best level come championships."
Â
The Big Green notched plenty of victories over the Quakers, including both diving events.
Maggie Lambdin earned an outright win on the 3-meter board with a score of 291.05. Lambdin and
Alexa Kalish bested Penn on the 1-meter board as well.
Â
First-year
Kathy Jia accounted for multiple wins over Penn, topping the Quakers in the 100 breast (1:04.98), 200 breast (2:21.85) and 200 IM (2:06.03). Jia was also a member of the 200 medley relay team, along with
Jamieson Legh,
Lane Murray and
Samantha Li, which defeated Penn with a time of 1:46.10 and was second only to the first-place Yale squad. A 200 free relay team of
Carinn Bethea, Li, Legh and Murray also picked up a win over Penn, placing second at 1:36.08.
Â
Bethea earned a win of her own, beating Penn in the 50 free after recording a time of 24.45 seconds. Legh turned in a strong performance in the 200 fly, placing third (second against both Yale and Penn) with a time of 2:05.11.

The Big Green are back at Karl Michael Pool for a third straight weekend beginning on Friday, Jan. 19 for the start of the two-day Tate Ramsden Invitational.
