HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth Men's Squash team defeated Williams 5-4 at the Berry Squash Center on Wednesday afternoon. The first and second positions both took home victories while the other three wins for the Big Green came from the seventh, eighth and ninth positions.
With the win, the Big Green move to 5-4 on the season while the Ephs fall to 8-6.
Juniors
Mac Aube and
Christian Shah continued to play dominantly in the top two positions for the Big Green as they both collected sweeps over Williams. Aube allowed only 16 total points during his three games (11-5, 11-6, 11-5). Shah's matchup in the second position was a bit more evenly matched. Williams' Nick Agger scored eight and nine points in the first two games, but Shah cruised through the third game for the victory, only allowing five points (11-8, 11-9, 11-5).
The Big Green's third sweep came from sophomore
Felix Feldman in the seventh position. Feldman dominated the first game (11-3) and won the next two games by final scores of 11-7 and 11-6.
Dartmouth's final two victories were more of a battle. First-year
Callan Venkatesan played in the eighth position. Venkatesan and Williams' Hudson Lin Jr. each won one game by the same score (11-8), before Venkatesan was able to fight for the victory in the final two games (12-10, 11-9).
In the ninth position, sophomore
Rana Thakkar needed all five games to secure the win over Williams' John Nicholson. Thakkar won a hard fought first game (13-11) before being held to only four points in the second game. Thakkar would then take the 2-1 lead with an 11-5 victory in the third game, but Nicholson continued to hang around, taking the fourth game to tie the match. In the end, Thakkar was able to come out victorious, winning the final game 11-7.
The Big Green will close this week's play on the road, facing No. 1 Penn on Saturday and No. 5 Princeton on Sunday. Both matches will start at noon.
